A regional multidisciplinary approach

Most hospitals, both public and private in our region do not have the full range of medical and surgical disciplines to treat all the cancer patients in their own area.

Joint discussions between the specialist oncologist from our Centre and consultants in other hospitals take place during joint peripheral clinics. Collaborative care plans are designed for individual patients. This care network is expanding through the Basse Normandie Region.

The establishment of the clinical oncology cancer treatment unit at Louis Pasteur Hospital in Cherbourg, staffed by physicians from our Centre, is a prime example of this regional co-ordination.
