760 employees and 617 patients of the Center were vaccinated in a department created specifically for this activity.

- March 15, 2021: Start of vaccination for the three eligible patient categories: those undergoing treatment with chemotherapy, targeted therapy or high-volume radiotherapy.
- May 31, 2021: End of vaccination for all and disarming of the vaccination service (see photo with, from left to right: Dr Elodie Delavoipière (referent pharmacist), Elisabeth Bellomo (Care Management Executive), Clémence Marazzi (Medical Assistant), Pr Marc-André Mahé (General Manager), Dr Agnès Palix (Occupational Physician), Dr Marie-Pierre Galais (Oncologist), Flavie Bulot (Health Executive).
The organization
As soon as authorization was obtained from the Agence Régionale de Santé, our vaccination service, comprising some 40 volunteer staff, was up and running within 3 days.
For the vaccination of patients, the Center's doctors notified their patients and offered them an appointment within the week.
Vaccination took place 2 days a week and proceeded as follows:
- Welcome to the department by the medical assistant, with handover of the vaccine eligibility questionnaire,
- Medical consultation by a doctor,
- After the doctor's approval, vaccination by a nurse,
- Post-vaccination monitoring for 15 minutes, with vital parameters taken by a nursing auxiliary,
- Return to the medical assistant to collect the vaccination certificate.
Vaccines
Throughout the vaccination campaign, we used two types of vaccine: 342 vials of Cominarty (Pfizer) and 64 vials of Vaxzevria (Astra Zeneca).
The Center's Pharmacy ordered the vaccine vials required for each vaccination day from Caen University Hospital. The Pharmacy was responsible for delivering these vials to the vaccination department. A nurse from the vaccination department was dedicated to preparing the syringes for injection.
No doses were lost. In the event of withdrawal and postponement of the vaccination appointment, another recipient was found within half an hour, thanks to waiting lists of volunteers (patient and staff) updated daily.
Thank you to all the hard-working people!
Many of the Center's staff, both active and retired, rallied round to make this Covid vaccination campaign a success.
