Missions
- Plastic surgeons work in collaboration with other specialists (gynecological surgeons, oncologists, radiation therapists, etc.) to manage breast cancer and its after-effects.
- Reconstruction after total mastectomy can be immediate or delayed. All methods are offered at the François Baclesse Center: prosthesis, fat injection (lipofilling), DIEP free flap, gracilis free flap, muscle-sparing dorsal flap (MSLD)...
The choice of method depends on several factors: the patient's wishes, but also her morphology and medical and surgical history. - Plastic surgery is used to correct the after-effects of conservative breast cancer treatment (symmetrization of the contralateral breast by reduction or mastopexy, lipofilling, scar revision, etc.).
- The department also offers treatment for skin and soft tissue cancers (basal cell or squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma, sarcoma, etc.) in collaboration with dermatologists.
- All procedures are covered by health insurance.
