On September 20, the Centre François Baclesse took part in the 1st Scientific Day of the Structure Fédérative 4207 Normandie Oncologie, organized at the Pôle de Formation et de la Recherche en Santé of the Université de Caen Normandie.
It brings together 10 research units, the two service units PLATON and CYCERON (technological and methodological platforms), the Centre Baclesse, the Caen University Hospital and the Labéo Public Interest Group, in a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach designed to advance cancer research in Normandy.
The day was opened by the Presidents of the Université de Caen Normandie, Cancéropôle Nord-Ouest, Caen La Mer and the Conseil Régional de Normandie, and the scientific project of the Structure Fédérative, which focuses on therapeutic innovations (drug design, innovative radiotherapy), screening, imaging, functional tests and the long-term effects of cancer and its treatments, was presented in the form of examples of collaborative projects implemented by its members.
The day ended with Fédéric Thomas (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique Montpellier) presenting a lecture entitled "Evolution and Cancer".
This day, rich in exchanges, will be followed by other editions which will focus more on the most advanced projects, and on proposing new collaborative actions to be implemented.
