Joël BUCHERY, a retired man from Orléans, and his friends will be cycling the 600 km "Vélo Francette" route from Ouistreham to La Rochelle to get moving, travel and raise funds for the Centre Baclesse.
Their motivation
It was to support a friend affected by the cancer of his young daughter, that giving meaning to their journey became an essential objective in their eyes. Together, they decided to raise funds for the Center, and more specifically to improve the quality of life of the children treated at Baclesse.
"We want these funds to be used to improve the comfort of children with cancer, for example by replacing the equipment that the hospital provides to distract them: stuffed animals, toys, movies, etc.".
Their journey
There will be eight drivers: Jean-Louis, Dominique, Joël, Pascal, Jean-Marie, Toinette, Odile and Étienne.
Their relatives will provide logistics and accommodation: Guy will follow in a caravan, Nicole, Christian, Laurette and Mireille in 2 camper vans.

Stopover at Centre Baclesse
On Saturday, May 4, after leaving Ouistreham at 9 a.m., a stop is planned at the Baclesse Center between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. This will be an opportunity to take photos and share a moment with these supportive athletes. Joël BUCHERY, the initiator of this action, said he would be "delighted if some caregivers and other professionals would join our peloton for a few kilometers!".
Would you like to encourage them during their stopovers? Or pedal alongside them for one or more stages?
Meet them in front of the Centre's entrance on May 4, 2024 at 10 a.m.! Participating in this way is a way of supporting them.
Online kitty open!
Highly committed, they have already opened an online kitty to raise funds for the Center!
