Situation at 03/14/2024
National and regional surveillance data indicate that the Normandy region has entered the post-epidemic stage for acute respiratory infections. We are therefore formalizing the end of mandatory mask wearing at the Centre Baclesse as of today, for all contact with patients.
Signage throughout the Center will be revised accordingly as soon as possible.
Except under these conditions
1/ The requirement to wear a mask is maintained for any person (employee or external visitor, patient, relative, etc.) presenting respiratory symptoms (coughing, sneezing, etc.).
2/ As part of the standard precautions that apply to all patient care, a surgical mask must be worn in the following situations:
Patients :
For frail patients, particularly those with respiratory infections, wearing a mask is strongly recommended inside healthcare establishments, including during consultations, and outside, according to current recommendations.
If you're not sure whether you're frail or not, ask your GP or oncologist.
Center Baclesse professionals :
- For any treatment involving the risk of spraying or aerosolizing respiratory secretions (respiratory physiotherapy, tracheal care, tracheal suctioning, aerosols, etc.): the mask must be worn in conjunction with protective goggles.
- When caring for a patient with a suspected respiratory infection: care involving the projection of respiratory secretions must continue to be carried out using an FFP2 mask and protective goggles.
- When the professional has a respiratory infection, to protect patients and other professionals. This measure applies to all the Center's professionals, whether caregivers or not.
This decision may be called into question at any time, depending on developments in the health situation.
