In Honfleur, the year 2023 will be marked by a new event: the organization of several events as part of the Pink October campaign.
An annual communications campaign designed to raise women's awareness of breast cancer screening, Pink October also raises funds for research.
In Honfleur, several actions were carried out, led by shopkeepers, entrepreneurs and local residents, with the full support of the municipality. All proceeds were donated to the Baclesse Center in Caen.
- Creator of the MC'Normand brand, Marie-Christine EYMERI came up with the "Néné Power" visual, which she used in pink and sequins on her t-shirts and tote-bags throughout October. They sold for €20 and €15 each respectively.
- For its part, the popular "Polopocco" bar, through its owner Robin HOUDE, donated €2 per "Néné Power" cocktail sold in its establishment throughout October.
- On October 28 and 29, Élise and Alexis RONEY, owners of the "Ville d'Honfleur" boat, offered solidarity boat rides. 2 per ticket was donated to the Centre Baclesse.
- The restaurant "Le Week-end" and its owner M. BERTRAND donated €500.
- A pink walk was organized by Lucrèce FAUVEL, a local honfleuraise committed to this cause, having twice been affected by breast cancer. Joining her in this action were Marie EYMERIE and Marie-Pierre MARCQ-HAMEL, also from Honfleur, director of the town's Centre communal d'action sociale and sponsor of the walk. They were followed by two gym teachers: Bénédicte DUHAMEL (Viédanse) and Sylvie ALCARAZ (Studio Gym). Both led the pre-walk with physical preparation.
- Last but not least, Laurent SÉNÉCAL and Eric BRUNSON, multiple winners of the Rallye de la Côte Fleurie, offered baptisms in Alpine cars, on loan from the Centre Alpine de Deauville, on October 28 and 29.
Each baptism, for a total of €30, was donated in full to the cause. All those who took advantage of one of their baptisms were entered in a draw for a chance to win a test drive at the next Côte Fleurie rally. In the end, it was Pascal LEJEUNE and Damien HEMERY who won their trial gallop on the course!
Michel LAMARRE, Mayor of Honfleur, and Honfleur's elected representatives and departments have been at their side from the outset, mobilizing their human and logistical resources to support these initiatives. The Lieutenance and the Fontaines traffic circle were decked out in pink for the whole month.
To celebrate all these actions, Michel LAMARRE organized a drink in honor of all those who gave their time and resources to contribute to this national cause.
A total of €4,312 was raised in Honfleur. They were symbolically handed over to Hermeline DELEPOUVE, Director of Communications and Sponsorship at the Centre Baclesse, on Wednesday November 15.
A HUGE THANK YOU to all our partner merchants and to Honfleur Town Hall for its support.
