The Baclesse Center has reached a major milestone in its international recognition. Following the introduction of a new evaluation level by the Organization of European Cancer Institutes (OECI), our institution has been awarded the highest European distinction: the “OECI Comprehensive Cancer Center with Research Excellence” designation.
This reclassification, effective as of September1, 2026, is the culmination of the daily commitment of all our medical, paramedical, research, and administrative teams.
A shift toward a higher standard of excellence
The OECI has updated its accreditation criteria to provide a three-tiered framework aligned with the most rigorous European standards for cancer care, research, and education.
Under this new system, the Baclesse Center—which was already recognized as a Comprehensive Cancer Center—has been officially reclassified to the next higher level: OECI Comprehensive Cancer Center with Research Excellence.
The requirements for achieving this new level are:
- More than 50 peer-reviewed international publications.
- A strong commitment to clinical research, with at least 25 interventional trials currently open for enrollment.
- Priority access to innovative therapies, enabling more than 2% of new patients to be treated as part of an interventional trial.
