On Wednesday September 11, 2024, Evrecy's Tulipes contre le cancer team presented a donation of €19,200 to Pr Roman ROUZIER, general manager, and Pr Christophe DENOYELLE, researcher, at the Centre Baclesse. This amount, generously collected thanks to the Tulipes contre le cancer 2024 operation, will contribute to the financing of cutting-edge equipment: the Real Time PCR.

Invaluable support for Baclesse!

This equipment will be invaluable in speeding up the work carried out by Prof. Christophe DENOYELLE 's teams , enabling significant advances to be made on circulating microArns, as predictive biomarkers of response to cancer treatments. The Real Time PCR costs €92,000 and is financed entirely by donations. The acquisition of this new equipment will enable Baclesse researchers to improve the precision and efficiency of their analyses and advance our research.

Real Time PCR

Prof. Roman ROUZIER and Prof. Christophe DENOYELLE took the time to explain the benefits of acquiring such equipment for cancer research. The exchange of views provided an opportunity to answer questions and discuss projects to be developed over the coming years, for which donations will be essential.

Tulips against cancer in Evrecy: a human adventure

In 2005, André BOULLOT and his wife Marie-Magdeleine, with a handful of friends and neighbors and the support of L'Association Familles Rurales, decided to set up a "Tulips Against Cancer" team in their village of EVRECY.
To grow tulips, you need a field in which to cultivate and pick them. A farming family provides a plot of land in Baron-sur-Odon, then another farming family offers a second plot in Louvigny. Other farmers get involved by ploughing the field and planting bulbs. Once the tulips are out of the ground, many hands are needed to pick, arrange and distribute the flowers.

In Evrecy, around 40 volunteers are mobilized to welcome visitors to the field, pick tulips, make bouquets, staff the Baclesse Center and provide "bouquet-vase" subscriptions. 60 shopkeepers, craftsmen and professionals from Evrecy and the surrounding area receive a bouquet of tulips each week during the flowering season, in exchange for a donation.

Chronology of a "Tulips against cancer" operation:

  • In spring, we take stock of the previous operation and order bulbs from Holland for the new season,
  • In late autumn, we ploughed the field and planted bulbs from Holland,
  • The following spring, between late March and early May depending on the year, the tulips are harvested and put to good use,
  • Early May, end of campaign and field clean-up,
  • September, delivery of collected donations to the Centre Baclesse.

Evrecy's Tulipes contre le Cancer join forces with Baclesse

The Evrecy Tulips Against Cancer have been supporting the Centre Baclesse for almost 20 years, and their ongoing commitment is of paramount importance, both for research and for improving patient comfort. This unwavering support enables us to offer ever more effective care and to make advances in the understanding and treatment of cancer.
Each bouquet of tulips represents a further step towards hope and towards new medical discoveries to change lives.
A huge thank you to the Evrecy Tulips team, and to all those involved in this wonderful adventure.

Thanks to your mobilization, you are giving the teams at the Centre Baclesse the means to pursue their efforts, and offering hope to many people affected by cancer.
