On Saturday, October 5, 2024, the commune of Condé-sur-Vire, in the Manche département, organized the 3rd edition of its walk in support of Pink October. The event, organized by Condé-sur-Vire town council in collaboration with Elle&Vire and Savencia, attracted a large public to
support breast cancer research at the Centre Baclesse in Caen.

A mobilization of solidarity and citizenship

The main aim of the walk was to raise funds for breast cancer research, with all donations going to the Centre Baclesse in Caen. "Last year, we raised €7,328 thanks to 730 participants. This year, we surpassed the 1,000 mark," emphasized Martine SAVARY, deputy mayor and co-organizer of the event.
As in previous years, two routes were proposed: one of 4.5 km and another of 12 km, both starting from Place Auguste Grandin. The day began at 9:30am with a welcome coffee, followed by a musical warm-up, before the walkers and runners set off at 10am.
Before the start, Dr. Alison JOHNSON, medical oncologist at the Centre François-Baclesse, thanked the organizers and participants. She reminded participants that donations are essential to accelerate breast cancer research and support the teams at the Centre Baclesse. She also stressed the importance of early detection of breast cancer and the need to take care of one's health.

At the same time as the walk, a dozen volunteer knitters from the Condé-sur-Vire media library put their talents to good use, making pink bows with the Pink October logo. The bows were on sale at the media library and town hall, in aid of the Centre Baclesse. The knitters also took part in decorating the town hall square and other places around the town. They put up pennants, tree scarves and pink fabrics, creating a festive and supportive atmosphere.

A donation of €12,582 for the Baclesse Center

One month after the event, on Tuesday November 5, 2024, the organizing team presented a check for €12,582 to the Centre Baclesse, to support the research work of the ORGAPRED group.
This amount was raised thanks to registration fees for the walk, the sale of pink bows, and the support of the event's partners and sponsors. The cheque was presented to Professor Roman ROUZIER, General Manager, and Dr Alison JONHSON, by Laurent PIEN, Mayor of Condé-sur-Vire, Martine Savary, Deputy Mayor, Patricia LEPAINTEUR, Administrative Assistant, as well as Savencia representatives Anne DEKOWSKI, HR Director, and Martine COQUOIN, Executive Assistant, and anElle&Vire representative, David FENOULLIERE, HR Director.
A visit to the research laboratories enabled participants to measure in concrete terms the impact of their donation on the fight against breast cancer. The experience underlined the importance of the entire Condé-sur-Vire community's commitment to medical research.

The event once again demonstrated the solidarity of the Condé-sur-Vire commune, Savencia and Elle&Vire.
