On May 21 and 22, the Baclesse Center was pleased to participate in the “Normandie Sporte Contre le Cancer” event, dedicated to promoting adapted physical activity during and after cancer treatment.

Over the course of these two days, a variety of activities were offered to inform, raise awareness, and highlight the benefits of exercise as part of the care process.

An opportunity for discussion and awareness-raising

About thirty people stopped by the Center’s booth dedicated to adapted physical activity (APA) and nutrition to meet with our staff. This provided an opportunity to chat, ask questions, and leave with practical advice on how to better incorporate physical activity into their daily lives.

In addition, partner booths were set up for professionals and visitors to the Center, reflecting a true regional collaboration.
We were thus able to welcomethe OncoNormandie Network, the event’s organizer, the Calvados Cancer League, and the Maison Sport Santé in Hérouville Saint-Clair.

Supervised sports introductory sessions

A total of 24 participants had the opportunity to try out various adapted activities in a friendly and supportive atmosphere:

  • Rowing with the Caen Rowing Club
  • Rock Climbing with the Monte en l’Air Association
  • Adapted physical activities with Siel Bleu

These workshops helped everyone regain their confidence, exercise at their own pace, and realize that exercise can be a real ally in the fight against illness.

A big thank you to our partners, the supervisors, and all the participants for their dedication and enthusiasm.

Together, let’s continue to promote physical activity as a cornerstone of well-being during and after cancer.
