Department tasks
The oncogenetic consultation enables us to identify families at risk, whatever the type of cancer, to propose a genetic analysis if the indication is accepted, and to adapt the surveillance of individuals according to the possible existence of a hereditary predisposition and their family history.

Care and Expertise
An oncogenetic consultation may be requested in the case of any unusual personal and/or family history of cancer, e.g. cancers diagnosed early, multiple cancers in a family...
The indication for a genetic analysis is made after an initial assessment consultation (teleconsultation) and in agreement with the person concerned.
Genetic analysis, if the indication is accepted, can then be used to determine whether there is a hereditary predisposition to cancer, to identify the family members concerned and, whatever the result, to set up appropriate surveillance, in line with national recommendations.
The Oncogenetics team is made up of oncogenetic physicians and genetic counselors, working in close collaboration with oncologists, biologists, radiologists and other specialists. Psychological support is also systematically offered.
We also work in partnership with other Oncogenetics departments in France, and play an active role in research in this field.
