A golf competition to support supportive care at the Baclesse Center
On April 21, 2022, the "Trophée Baclesse" golf competition was played at Golf Caen la Mer in Biéville-Beuville in support of the support care department at the Centre François Baclesse. The event was organized in collaboration with Claude RENARD, vice-president of Golf Caen la Mer, by Isabelle LE FLEM, beauty care assistant, and Marielle RENOU, health executive in the Center's support care department:
- Active search for sponsors and prizes of all kinds to be awarded to participants,
- Organization of the competition.
What is supportive care?
Supportive care is the care and support that patients need throughout their illness, in conjunction with specific onco-haematological treatments, when available, and after the illness. They are an essential and integral part of cancer care. They help improve quality of life and comfort.
A friendly day for a good cause!
The competition got underway at 8.30am, after a welcome coffee. The 87 participants took to the golf course until 12:30. The day ended at 6.30pm with the prize-giving ceremony.
Registrations for the competition, as well as donations from local businesses and individuals on the day, raised €2,665 for the supportive care department to continue the adapted onco-aesthetics project.
Adapted Onco-aesthetics
These are aesthetic treatments adapted to patients with cancer of the digestive and areal tracts, undergoing treatment at the Centre Baclesse. The aim is to promote well-being, soothe skin pain associated with treatment and the disease, and help restore self-esteem and self-image over the long term.
