To mark World Bike Day on June 3, 2022, the Centre François Baclesse is offering its employees a bike maintenance and repair workshop.

On June 3, between 8am and 7pm, a repairman will be on site to service and repair employees' bikes. This service is offered by the company (free labor). Employees are responsible for the cost of any replacement parts.

This workshop is part of the Centre François Baclesse's policy of promoting the use of bicycles.

Since signing its mobility plan in 2015, the Centre François Baclesse has implemented a number of measures to encourage employees to use their bikes to get to work:

  • New covered and secure bike shelter,
  • New bicycle parking facilities,
  • Access to showers for employees on bicycles,
  • Secure anti-theft device available,
  • Electric-assist bike test ride
  • Sustainable mobility package (e.g. bicycle mileage allowance)...

In 2022, the Centre has also increased the amount paid for mileage expenses for employees cycling to work from €0.25 per km to €0.30 per km, and raised the ceiling for this allowance to €300 instead of €200 (sustainable mobility package).

Caen la mer is also making a number of improvements for cyclists around the Centre François Baclesse. In May 2022, for example, the sidewalk along the cycle path on Boulevard Harris was lowered to enable cyclists to enter the Centre's parking lot directly. These improvements are the result of cooperation between the Centre and Caen la mer as part of our mobility plan.

  • In 2019: 55 employees at the Centre François Baclesse cycled to work (5.49% of the workforce).
  • In 2022: 72 employees were convinced by this mode of transport (i.e. 7% of the workforce). This represents a 30% increase in 3 years.

To enhance its cycling policy and develop new initiatives, the Centre François Baclesse has just signed up to the "Pro-Vélo Employer" program, with the aim of obtaining the "Pro-Vélo Employer" label in 2023.
This label recognizes employers who implement ambitious, bicycle-specific initiatives that comply with the specifications drawn up by the French Federation of Bicycle Users (FUB).
