The François Baclesse Center is committed to promoting professional equality between women and men in the healthcare sector by signing the Charter of Commitment sponsored by the association Donner des ELLES à la Santé.
The signing ceremony took place on September 28 in Rouen, during a morning event that brought together numerous institutional stakeholders and healthcare facilities from Normandy.
Organized by the Prefecture of the Normandy Region and Seine-Maritime, the Normandy Region, and the Normandy Regional Health Agency (ARS), in partnership with the association “Donner des ELLES à la Santé,” this event provided an opportunity to share personal stories and feedback and to discuss issues related to professional equality in the healthcare sector.
Among the representatives from the François Baclesse Center in attendance, Professor Florence Joly spoke in particular to share her background and her experience in her medical career. Professor Roman Rouzier, Director General, and Michael Canovas, Deputy Director General, also represented the institution.
Taking Action for Professional Equality in Healthcare
Founded in 2020, the nonprofit organization Donner des ELLES à la Santé works to advance gender equality in the healthcare sector.
The charter aims, in particular, to promote:
- equality in career paths between women and men
- Preventing and combating gender-based and sexual violence (GBV and SV)
- Changes in management practices and the professional culture of healthcare facilities
- women's access to leadership and governance roles, as well as to academic and research careers
- Communication free of stereotypes and the feminization of job titles
The association also carries out awareness-raising, training, mentoring, and support initiatives to assist institutions in their efforts to promote equality. It also publishes an annual survey, conducted in collaboration with Ipsos, focusing on perceptions and realities of gender inequality in the healthcare sector.
A Collective Effort in Normandy
The agreement brings together stakeholders from various sectors of the healthcare industry in Normandy: institutions, universities, professional associations, federations, hospital groups (GHTs), and public and private healthcare facilities.
Among the organizations involved are the Prefecture of the Normandy Region and Seine-Maritime, the Normandy Region, the Normandy Regional Health Agency (ARS), the Universities of Caen and Rouen, the Normandy Hospital Federation (FHF), the FEHAP, the FHP, Nexem, several Normandy hospital groups (GHTs), as well as numerous healthcare facilities, including the Rouen University Hospital (CHU de Rouen), the Caen Normandy University Hospital (CHU Caen Normandie), and the François Baclesse Center.
For Baclesse, this signing signifies a commitment to continuing and strengthening efforts to promote workplace equality, respect, and the prevention of discrimination.
It is part of a collective effort that is intended to continue over time, involving all of the institution’s professionals.
