On Wednesday March 16, 2022, during a ceremony at the Les Unelles entertainment center in Coutances (50), the Coutances Lions Club International presented the Centre François Baclesse and the associations invited to the evening with the donations collected thanks to the "Tulips against Cancer 2021" operation.

The Coutances Lions Club International presented a cheque for 20,000 euros to the Centre François Baclesse. This donation will support the teams of researchers involved in the fight against cancer on a daily basis, by developing research initiatives for the benefit of all.

What is the "Tulips Against Cancer" operation?

Since 1988, Lions Clubs throughout France have joined forces to support the "Tulips Against Cancer" operation. The main aim of this operation is to raise funds to support the fight against cancer, and more specifically research programs developed in regional hospitals.

Every autumn, thousands of volunteers mobilize to plant tulip bulbs from Holland. In spring, the public comes to pick tulips in the fields, and volunteers offer bouquets in exchange for donations in various public places.

The "Tulips Against Cancer" operation is a wonderful human adventure which, for 34 years, has been helping to advance cancer research.

A huge thank you to all of you for your commitment to us!
