In daily interaction with practitioners from the CHU and the François Baclesse Cancer Center, the ANTICIPE Unit involves some 100 people.
Research activity
The Anticipe Unit (Inserm U1086) develops multidisciplinary approaches to address public health issues, primarily in the field of oncology, focusing on prevention, screening, therapeutic innovation, and patient care.
In each of these areas, the unit conducts studies that provide the highest possible level of evidence to propose changes to the organization of primary or secondary prevention or to clinical practice. In all the areas it addresses, our unit is deeply committed to identifying the conditions necessary to maintain or improve health equity.
Our work is based on daily interactions between clinicians and researchers, significant technological and methodological advancements, powerful databases, and innovative population-based approaches that rely in particular on cohorts and population-based registries.
The unit has conducted extensive fundamental research at various scales, from the molecular level to human populations, which has led to the creation of seven university-based technological and methodological platforms, four of which have been awarded IBISA certification.
The Anticipe unit (Inserm U1086) conducts basic and applied research aimed at developing cancer prevention and treatment strategies that are best suited to individuals and their environments. Their work is organized around five themes:
- Occupational and environmental risk factors for cancer
- Precision Medicine for Ovarian Cancer
- Living with cancer
- Health, Inequality, Geography, Environment
- Health Journey and Transition Phases
The multidisciplinary and cross-cutting research conducted in our unit is specifically aimed at improving cancer prevention in agricultural communities, improving the organization of screening for colorectal, breast, and lung cancers, improving the prevention of cognitive impairment during cancer treatment, and improving the therapeutic management of women with treatment-resistant ovarian cancer. They also offer programs designed to reduce social and regional disparities in cancer prevention and treatment.
The unit is located at:
→ on the2nd floor of the west wing of the main building at the Centre Baclesse,
→ on the ground floor and garden level of the external research building,
→ on the ground floor of the Biology-Research building at the Caen Normandy University Hospital.
