On January 22, 2025, members of the Cyclos d'Habloville presented a check for €3,056 to improve the comfort of children undergoing radiotherapy at the Baclesse Center. This donation was raised thanks to their participation in the Vélo Francette 2024, a cycling tour between Ouistreham and La Rochelle.
The official presentation of the cheque took place in the presence of the radiotherapy team, who warmly thanked the Cyclos d'Habloville for their generosity. On this occasion, a visit to the children's waiting room enabled them to appreciate the importance of their donation. They were able to fully appreciate the usefulness of financing equipment designed to ease the daily lives of young patients.
Concrete support
This donation will be used to finance the re-edition of the "My Rayonix Planet" booklet, an invaluable tool designed to support children by enabling them to put words and images to their radiotherapy journey, making their experience more understandable and less intimidating.
An adventure of solidarity and sport
The story begins with Joël BUCHERY, a retired man from Orléans, who suggested to his friends that they take part in the Vélo Francette 2024. This 660 km challenge across Normandy, Pays de la Loire and Poitou-Charentes quickly turned into a solidarity adventure. The group decided to link this sporting event to a cause that was particularly close to their hearts: improving the daily lives of children with cancer. One of the participants, whose granddaughter is ill, was a particular inspiration for this initiative.
Our thanks go to Jean-Louis, Dominique, Joël, Pascal, Jean-Marie, Toinette, Odile and Étienne, and to Guy, Nicole, Christian, Laurette and Mireille for their logistical support.
A HUGE THANK YOU
