The Pink Ribbon 2024 Awards ceremony took place at the French National Assembly on Thursday, January 16, 2025. This grandiose evening, hosted by Leïla KADDOUR-BOUDADI, journalist and radio and TV host, opened with a moving, personal and engaging speech by Madame Yaël BRAUN-PIVET, President of the French National Assembly.
What is the Ruban Rose association?
In October 1994, the "Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-en!" awareness campaign was launched in France. Its aim was to mobilize women and those around them by raising awareness of breast cancer through information and dialogue, and of theimportance of screening.
In France today, one woman in eight is at risk of developing breast cancer: "anticipating", "preventing" and "raising awareness" are actions that can effectively limit the consequences of this disease. It is this hope that brought together, for the first time 25 years ago, a cosmetics group, Estée Lauder France and Marie Claire magazine, the historic founding members of the Association which will bear the name of this campaign "Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-en!
In 2020, the "Le Cancer du Sein, Parlons-en!" association wanted to give greater prominence to the founding symbol of the fight against breast cancer by changing its name to "Ruban Rose".
Pink Ribbon Awards
In 2003, the French association created the Pink Ribbon Awards to support clinical and biological research efforts, as well as innovations and remarkable advances in screening techniques, reconstructive surgery, psychology and improved quality of life for women with breast cancer.
In France since 2004, over 8 million euros have been donated by the association to breast cancer research. Each campaign is symbolically marked by the illumination of prestigious monuments and sites in France and around the world.
On Thursday, January 16, 2025, several Pink Ribbon Awards were presented, raising a total of 3 million euros:
- Grand Prize of €350,000
- The Prix Avenir, worth €225,000
- Research grants for past winners, worth 200 000 €
- Quality of Life Awards worth €150,000
- Major Project worth over €600,000
