On Friday, July 1, 2022, the Falaise Lions Club presented the Centre Baclesse with a donation of 11,000 euros for cancer research. This donation, from the 2022 edition of the "Tulips against Cancer" operation, will support the teams of researchers who work daily to advance research and innovation for the benefit of all patients.
For 34 years, the Falaise Lions Club has been supporting the Centre Baclesse and local associations through its "Tulips Against Cancer" operation. This operation is only possible thanks to the mobilization and investment of dozens of volunteers. In 2022, the planting, picking and distribution of tulips represented over 1,500 hours of volunteer work.

How does the Tulips Against Cancer operation work?

Every autumn, volunteers plant tulip bulbs on the Château d'Aubigny site on the outskirts of Falaise.
In spring, for around 3 weeks, the public comes to pick the tulips that have sprung from the ground. Volunteers pick the flowers and make bouquets which will be offered in exchange for a donation, in various public places.
In Falaise, in 2022, over 158,000 bulbs were planted in aid of the fight against cancer. Both early and late varieties of tulips have been carefully selected to be harvested over an average period of three weeks.
The enthusiasm and dedication of dozens of volunteers support the Centre Baclesse, and their commitment helps advance cancer research.
A HUGE THANK YOU for being there for us!
