31 students in the 11th grade ST2S class at Saint Thomas d'Aquin High School in Flers are leading a project on the benefits of sports and physical activity for health, called "Olympic-Paralympic."
For 2 years, these high-school students, who are going into the health and social professions, will be working on sport, health, disability, illness, etc. They will be meeting top-level athletes and visiting different establishments to learn more about these subjects. Their goal is to go to the Paralympic Games in Paris at the end of August.
To create a class dynamic, they are taking part in the Caen Cancer Solidarity Run-Walk, the Rochambelleon June 1, 2024.
On Thursday, May 16, 2024, this class visited the Centre Baclesse to learn more about cancer and its treatments, to understand the benefits of physical activity for a cancer patient and to discover different supportive care.
The 1ères ST2S attended several presentations:
- Supportive care,
- Cancer and its treatment,
- Sport and cancer,
- Dietetics and health,
- Socio-aesthetics and cancer,
- The role of the Espace de Rencontres et d'Information (ERI).
They ended their day with a tour of the ERI, the gym, the physiotherapy room, the supportive care consultations and the beauty salon.
