"You don't form an opinion about a hospital in the same way as you do about an exhibition, a hotel or a book."
At the beginning of March 2023, the Haute Autorité de Santé (HAS) published the quality indicators for each healthcare establishment, with Baclesse ranked among the best in Normandy.
Baclesse ranked among the best healthcare establishments by HAS
Recognized for its humanist values and the excellence of its care, already certified A in 2019, the highest level by the HAS, the figures for 2023 show the Centre Baclesse's strong momentum in terms of quality policy. The comparison shows that the Centre is the leading facility in the former Basse-Normandie region, with the best satisfaction and recommendation rates (compared with facilities with surgical activity).
For example, the recommendation rate for patients hospitalized in outpatient surgery at Baclesse is 90%.
Detailed results of national patient satisfaction surveys at Centre Baclesse (e-Satis 2023)
The e-Satis national system for measuring patient satisfaction provides for the continuous collection of patient satisfaction data throughout the year. Data is collected via an online questionnaire on a dedicated platform: e-Satis.
Within 2 to 10 weeks of discharge from hospital, patients are invited by e-mail to log on to e-Satis to complete the questionnaire. Based on the responses received from patients over the course of a year, an adjusted overall satisfaction score is calculated for each participating facility, once it has obtained the minimum number of responses required.
e-Satis survey: conventional hospitalization (+48h)
This one-year survey assesses the satisfaction of patients hospitalized for more than 48 hours in all French surgical hospitals.

e-Satis survey: Ambulatory surgery

Over a one-year period, it assesses the satisfaction of patients hospitalized for outpatient surgery in all French hospitals with a surgical activity.
Results of quality and safety indicators (IQSS)
Quality and Safety Indicators (QSI) are tools that measure professional practice or care coordination, in order to provide a reliable assessment of care quality and patient safety. They are collected annually.
Pain assessment and management
This indicator measures theassessment and management of patient pain by the healthcare team.

Quality of discharge letter
This indicator measures the quality of the liaison letter, given to the patient on discharge and sent to the attending physician. It is a key element in ensuring effective hospital/city coordination.

Pr Roman ROUZIER emphasizes that "steering a healthcare facility through quality indicators is absolutely essential, and we are constantly seeking to improve our practices. We're obviously proud of the results we've published, and we're going to keep up the momentum. I would add that, in addition to quality, we have also introduced performance indicators, which should not be taboo in hospitals. We owe it to our patients, and to our collective-based healthcare system."
