Baclesse and the Suzi Handicap Animal association are delighted to announce the signing of a ground-breaking partnership agreement, aimed at providing suitable care for hospitalized patients' pets. The agreement was signed on July 2 at 4pm in the Boardroom of the Centre Baclesse.
A response to a crucial need
Baclesse Hospital, renowned for its care, research and teaching in oncology, found that some patients were refusing hospitalization due to a lack of options for looking after their pets. In response to this problem, a partnership was set up with Suzi Handicap Animal, a shelter specializing in taking in disabled animals.
A partnership that benefits both patients and animals
The aim of this partnership is to bring hospitalized patients and the association closer together, enabling patients to entrust their pets to a safe and suitable shelter while they are hospitalized. The Suzi Handicap Animal association, run by Mrs Stéphanie LISICKI, takes in animals that have been victims of abuse or accidents, offering them a living environment adapted to their specific needs. Unlike a "classic" shelter, the animals are housed in apartments, children's rooms, care homes, etc. These spaces are specially adapted to preserve as much as possible their life in freedom and in groups, while taking into account their specific needs. This partnership will give patients peace of mind about the well-being of their companions during their hospital stay.
Agreement details
Under the terms of the agreement, the Centre Baclesse must inform patients of the existence of this partnership and provide them with the association's contact details to organize the care of their animals. The association will take care of the animals free of charge, whatever their species, including dogs, cats, horses, NACs, etc., within the limits of its reception capacity. A service agreement will be drawn up between the association and each patient, setting out the terms and conditions of the care. In particular, the patient is asked to provide suitable food and toys for the animal, or a basket if necessary.Care will be personalized according to each animal's specific characteristics, such as age, weight and tolerance of other animals. In addition, the association will ensure regular communication with owners, providing them with news of their pet via photos, videos, phone calls and SMS messages.
