With more than 20 years' experience behind it, the Clinical Research department at the Centre François Baclesse has gradually become more structured and professional, with more than 30 people now dedicated to this activity.

Our activities
The aim of such a structure is to offer patients in the region and/or inter-region access to therapeutic innovation under optimum safety and quality conditions, as well as to evaluate new diagnostic methods and assess the impact of treatments on patients' quality of life. In this way, it enables the acquisition of new scientific knowledge, necessary for medical progress and improved care.
The CFB's clinical research department brings together, under a single governance structure, promotional and investigative activities, with a close operational link to the pharmacy for the dispensing of experimental products.
- L'Promotion Unit unit provides investigators at the Centre François Baclesse with methodological, editorial, logistical and administrative support throughout the life of the protocol (from conception to publication of results).
- L'Investigation Unit with its multi-disciplinary team (doctors, clinical research associates, nurses, medical assistants) ensures the care of patients included in therapeutic trials proposed by the pharmaceutical industry, cooperative groups and academics, in accordance with regulatory and protocol requirements.
Of course, the clinical research department could not function without strong collaboration with the investigating physicians and all the clinical and medical-technical departments of the establishment. DRCI can also count on a high-performance technical platform (MRI, scanners, radiotherapy platform, pharmacy, tumor library, molecular biology platform, etc.).

Our "Excellence in Clinical Research" labels
INCa accreditation CLIP² Early Stage Center
Since 2010 and for the third time in a row, the Institut National du Cancer has renewed its confidence in our teams in 2019 with a new CLIP² label "Labellisé Centre de Phases Précoces en cancérologie adulte". This label, awarded to the 16 best French centers with the capacity to conduct early-phase clinical trials in oncology, is an asset for patients in Normandy, giving them access to therapeutic innovation.
The CLIP² 2019-2024 label is the fruit of collaboration between our clinical research unit and two partner sites: the Institut d'Hématologie de Basse-Normandie (IHBN) and the hematology department of the Henri Becquerel Cancer Center in Rouen.
AFNOR ISO 9001:2015 certification
Since March 2017, the entire clinical research perimeter has been ISO 9001:2015 certified.
This internationally recognized standard guarantees everyone - patients, physicians, academic and industrial partners - a high level of quality and safety in the organization of clinical trials.
DRCI label (Delegation for Clinical Research and Innovation)
Obtained in 2012, the DRCI label enables the Centre François Baclesse to respond to calls for tenders from the Ministry of Health for academic research.
Coordination of the StarCC project for the North-West inter-region
Building on its experience in clinical research, the Centre François Baclesse is coordinating the GIRCI Nord-Ouest's StARCC project for "Structuring Clinical Research Activity in Cancerology".
