Bernard Gille, president of the association, presented a donation of €11,000 to representatives of the Centre Baclesse: Dr Fernand Missohou, radiotherapist, Magali Micaud, radiotherapy department manager and Aurore Lecoeur, pediatric coordinator.

On Wednesday May 31, at Moult-Chicheboville Town Hall (14), the "Tulipes en Val ès Dunes" association organized a cheque presentation to benefit the Centre Baclesse.

This generous contribution will be used to finance projects benefiting children undergoing radiotherapy at the Centre Baclesse. The Center's three representatives presented to the volunteers and elected representatives present at the donation ceremony the projects that could be financed by the funds raised thanks to the "Les Tulipes en Val ès Dunes" association:

  • Entertaining equipment to provide comfort and softness for children during treatment phases
  • Medical equipment: a free-breathing system for radiotherapy treatments

This moment of sharing ended with warm exchanges over a glass of friendship.

Tulipes en Val ès dunes": a human adventure

A new association to support the fight against cancer

  • In 2022, André Vermès, Sylvie Morin, Gérard Louis and Bernard Gille founded the association "les Tulipes en Val ès Dunes". Solidarity quickly grew around the co-founders, and many responded positively to the project of planting, picking, bouqueting and distributing tulips to fight cancer. Around 80 members and volunteers support this local project.
  • At the beginning of 2023, the association was deeply shaken by the sudden death of André Vermès, an emblematic figure in "Operation Tulips Against Cancer". Mr. Vermès was a very active member of the association, always ready to give of his time to help others. Despite the sadness and to honor his memory, the "Tulipes en Val ès Dunes" team is continuing its mission: to raise funds for the Centre Baclesse to support children with cancer.

Tulips against cancer: a simple principle

  • In autumn 2022, 42,000 tulip bulbs were planted on a 4,000 m2 plot near the Leclerc shopping center in Argences (14). The land was provided free of charge by Madame Pommier, the shopping center manager, and Madame Cordon, the land operator.
  • From early April 2023, tulip bouquets will be distributed (in exchange for a donation) in the shopping malls of local stores, at markets in Argences, Saint-Pierre-sur-Dives, Lisieux... and elsewhere. The association has also set up a delivery service (vase contracts), enabling customers to receive a new bouquet every week.
  • Tulip season came to an end at the end of April.
Tulipes Val ès Dunes volunteers

This operation was made possible thanks to the commitment of some 80 volunteers involved in the project. They made a major contribution to the success of this 1st edition of "Tulipes en Val ès Dune", raising €11,000 for the Centre Baclesse.
A big THANK YOU to everyone!
