Baclesse and his policy of promoting cycling

In 2015, the Centre François Baclesse signed a mobility plan with the Communauté d'agglomération Caen la mer to encourage employees to use environmentally-friendly modes of travel to get to work.

In this mobility plan, the Centre undertakes to implement actions to :

Promote the use of public transport
Promote the use of bicycles
Move towards sensible car use

Since 2017, the Centre François Baclesse has already implemented:

  • A "Forfait d'indemnité Kilométrique Vélo" (bicycle mileage allowance), which in 2020 will become the "Forfait mobilités durables" (sustainable mobility allowance). This involves the employer covering all or part of the transportation costs of employees commuting to and from work by bicycle or electrically-assisted bicycle. The Centre can also reimburse 50% of the cost of electrically-assisted bicycle rental passes as part of the transport allowance.
  • Two covered bike shelters, available to staff, as well as 2 bike parking areas. To ensure secure parking for employees' bicycles in the bike shelters, the Center provides secure locks, available on request. They also have access to the showers in the staff changing rooms.

In September 2022, the Baclesse Center committed to the "Objectif Employeur Pro-Vélo" (Pro-Bicycle Employer) program, led by the French Federation of Bicycle Users (FUB), by signing the program's charter of commitment, thereby formalizing its participation in the certification process.

Employees cycling to the Baclesse Center:

→ In 2023, 83 employees were convinced by this mode of transport (i.e. 7.18% of the workforce).
→ This represents + 30% increase in velotaffers since 2019.
