On Wednesday September 28, 2022, at the Marie de Coutances, Jean-Claude Bergeret, President of the Coutances Lions Club, and his members invited the Centre Baclesse and four local associations to present them with a donation from the 2022 "Tulips Against Cancer" event.
This latest event enabled the Coutances Lions Club to raise 27,000 euros for the fight against cancer. Jean-Claude Bergeret and Jacky Robiolle, Tulipes action referent, presented Pr Marc-André Mahé, General Director of the Centre Baclesse, with a cheque for 15,000 euros to support cancer research. The remaining 12,000 euros were divided between the following associations: Ligue contre le cancer, Chapeaux de Martine, Enfants Cancers and Cadet Roussel.
Today, researchers, healthcare professionals and associations involved in the fight against cancer need financial resources to continue the battle against the disease and support patients and their families.
Tulips Against Cancer: Commitment and solidarity
Since 1998, thanks to the "Tulips Against Cancer" campaign, the Coutances Lions Club has distributed nearly 600,000 euros to local organizations and associations, supporting projects that are committed to the fight against cancer and that benefit local communities.
In Coutances, 17 Club members and nearly 200 volunteers plant the tulips, pick them, arrange them in bouquets and sell them in exchange for a donation. The money raised supports innovative research projects and patient comfort and well-being, always in connection with cancer.
The volunteers who have been involved in the "Tulips Against Cancer" operation for 24 years count neither their time nor their efforts, and through their commitment are making a significant contribution to the fight against cancer.
Lions Clubs have been able to unite, federate and encourage the solidarity and generosity of the general public.
A huge THANK YOU to all of you!
