On Monday May 12, the Lisieux Lions Club once again demonstrated its commitment to the Centre Baclesse by organizing an evening of solidarity and support for cancer research.
A precious donation for cancer research
On this occasion, the Lisieux Lions Club was delighted to welcome Mélanie BRIAND, a translational research engineer at the Centre Baclesse, who spoke on the theme of "precision medicine for ovarian cancer " at the Inserm U1086 Anticipe Unit.
In a warm atmosphere, the President of the Lisieux Lions Club, Monsieur Lemonnier, opened the evening with a word of welcome. Participants then shared a delicious dinner, in the presence of Mr. and Mrs. COPPIN, owners of the Super U store in Ouilly-le-Vicomte, partners committed to the "Tulips against Cancer" campaign.
Mélanie BRIAND warmly thanked all the members and volunteers present for their unfailing commitment to fund-raising for the Centre Baclesse. She describedthe progress made with organoids, innovative models which help us to better understand and treat ovarian cancer.
The President and Treasurer of the Lions Club then officially presented a cheque for 3,800 euros to support the laboratory's research . This donation will contribute to the implementation of new projects concerning the evaluation of new therapeutic strategies on chemoresistant ovarian cancer models : tumor-derived organoids.
The evening continued in a convivial atmosphere, with exchanges between volunteers and researchers, and concluded with a few announcements concerning the next initiatives of the Lisieux Lions Club, always mobilized for major causes.
The Centre Baclesse warmly thanks the Lisieux Lions Club, as well as all the volunteers and partners, for their generosity, which enables us to make a little more progress every day in the fight against ovarian cancer.
