The 2023 edition of Patient Safety Week runs from November 20 to 24 on the theme of "Making patients the actors of their own safety".

The aim of this annual awareness-raising event is to encourage dialogue between users, patients and healthcare professionals. To mark the occasion, the Centre Baclesse is organizing a number of awareness-raising events.

Actions for patients

1/ Challenge: take a care safety quiz

Patient quiz Safety Week 2023

This 3-minute knowledge test enables the Center's patients to learn more about their care. After answering all the questions, they can find out their score and the answers they are expected to give.

2/ Raising patients' awareness of their essential role

The Center communicates with patients, via social networks and in hospital wards, to raise their awareness and encourage them to take action to ensure the safety of their care in hospital via these 4 key messages:

At the hospital, I have an essential role in my care:

  • I'll bring all the documents I need to create my file and verify my
  • identity ;
  • I contribute by asking questions about my care, by taking part in decisions related to my care...
  • I dare to say it if I notice an error on my identity, on my medication, on an oversight of hand hygiene....
  • I alert you to my allergies, my history, my symptoms... ;

The Centre also distributes :

> A video to raise patients' awareness of their role in preventing hospital-acquired infections on Patient TV :

> An identitovigilance poster in care departments and waiting rooms.

Actions for Baclesse Center professionals

1/ The Care Olympics

This year, the Center is taking part in the Olympiades du soin, organized by the Qual'Va network. Staff take on challenges during undernutrition week and patient safety week.

What's it all about?

Through a series of fun challenges lasting between 30 and 45 minutes, all the Center's employees are invited to take on the role of patients, in order to better understand their experiences.

The organization and implementation of these challenges are carried out in a collaborative manner. Indeed, patients, caregivers and user representatives are integrated into the teams working on the project (patient partner, DISSPO, ERI, disability referents, catering, quality department).

The challenges...

  • Challenge 1: Put on an ageing suit and complete a course with different stages: brisk walking, lying down in a bed and getting up again, putting on presbycusis glasses then trying to write a sentence with paper/pen, tasting dishes mixed/hopped by the Center's catering team and testing ergonomic cutlery.
  • Challenge 2: Taste nutritional supplements.
  • Challenge 3: Complete a wheelchair route to the Center's services.
  • Challenge 4: Get your team to discover as many medical expressions as possible in as little time as possible.

2/ Game "The Unbeatables"

Les imbattables" game

This game, developed by three regional support structures (RéQua, RSQR and Qual'Va), is designed to raise awareness of the quality and safety of care approach among healthcare professionals. At the Centre Baclesse, it is offered to professionals in the care departments (medicine, surgery and medico-technical), with questions on 5 themes related to their professional practices:

  • Medication circuit
  • Risk management
  • Risk of infection
  • Evaluate and improve
  • Patients: their journey, their rights.
